[Remote] Freelance Full-Stack Engineer (Web)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Zovian is looking for a full-stack web engineer to join their team and help build out an early-stage web platform. This part-time, paid contract role involves collaborating with the lead engineer to develop features and systems while maintaining effective communication and adaptability throughout the development process.
Responsibilities
- Building new backend services and endpoints to support upcoming platform features
- Implementing frontend components and views for new features, integrating cleanly with existing APIs
- Developing internal or admin-facing tooling used to:
- Create and manage platform content
- Operate events or workflows
- Review, update, and publish results
- Iterating on existing user flows to improve UX, performance, and clarity
- Taking a feature from spec to shipped, including basic testing, with minimal day-to-day oversight
- Writing readable code that follows our existing conventions and passes review
- Structuring new code so it can be extended later without requiring a full rewrite
- Syncing regularly with our lead engineer on priorities, technical decisions, and how new work fits into the existing system
- Communicating blockers or scope concerns proactively
Skills
- Friendly, positive, and easy to work with day to day
- Receptive to feedback, with the flexibility to iterate or change course as priorities shift
- Experience building full-stack web applications
- Ability to implement a system end-to-end with minimal oversight
- Comfort working from high-level goals rather than detailed specifications
- Experience building and deploying backend services in cloud-native or serverless production environments
- Experience designing data models for production web applications
- Experience building user-facing web application interfaces that integrate cleanly with backend APIs
- Comfort implementing routing, data fetching, and state management in modern web applications
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Available for regular check-ins during Pacific Time (PT) working hours
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Familiarity with AWS services
- Experience building early-stage platforms or internal tools
- Experience making architectural or system-level decisions
- Experience building dynamic dashboards, marketplaces, or community-driven products
- Interest in games, game communities, and creator platforms
