[Remote] Software Engineer, Information Experience

The Information Experience team is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to design and build next-generation content and knowledge workflow platforms, focusing on user experience and AI integration.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain web-based framework applications and internal tools using JavaScript (React/Node.js), PHP, and/or Python to enhance content workflows and operational efficiency
- Critically evaluate and integrate AI methodologies into work processes to improve problem solving and decision making. Build tools and workflows that can operate at scale within a global team
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support and evolve content authoring and publishing ecosystems
- Support the creation of user-friendly and highly functional content websites and content systems that assist internal teams and external users
- Collaborate and work closely with technical writers, UX designers, and product teams to deliver solutions that improve content delivery and user experience
Skills
- Bachelors + 5 years of related experience, or Masters + 3 years of related experience, or PhD with a focus on building and maintaining content management systems, portals, or similar platforms
- Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, PHP, or similar, and experience with frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues efficiently
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and experience deploying and managing applications for scale in a cloud environment
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in cross-functional global teams
- Hands-on experience prototyping and building toolsets with LLMs, integrating agentic workflows, and scaling automations to support content deliverables
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and understanding of best practices in content architecture, workflow configuration, and integrations with web applications
- Experience in building and integrating RESTful APIs, MCP, or similar to connect content systems with other applications

- Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer
- For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco’s policies
- Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan
- For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows: * .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota; * 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%; * 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and * Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
- For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target
- Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid
- Employees in Illinois, whether exempt or non-exempt, will participate in a unique time off program to meet local requirements
