[Remote] Project Manager Staff Sr. | NEW GENERATION (EPC gas turbine) * anywhere in AEP service territory

The Project Manager Staff Sr. will manage multiple complex projects, providing leadership and communication to ensure project goals and customer satisfaction are achieved.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and manage assigned project work activities with expert level of proficiency in all aspects as well as provide guidance of others leading these activities
- Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on Zero Harm
- Manage, develop, review, and coordinate the project plan, schedule, budget, tools, and staff as well as provide guidance of others leading these activities. Effectively and efficiently, manage cost and timely reallocation of funding
- Effectively communicate project details and status updates. Lead planning meetings and project updates including detailed and complex stakeholder presentations. Ensure those supervised are adequately and effectively prepared for their audience. Provide clear and concise written reports
- Develop and actively manage working relationships with project teams, plant and operating company staff, internal and external customers or partners, contractors, vendors, and suppliers. Foster teamwork and actively achieve customer satisfaction. Provide leadership and coaching to project team members to accomplish the same
- Provide wide range of detailed guidance, instruction, and training to others to improve designs, systems, processes, procedures, schedules, and costs. Confidently challenge others at the highest level of informed understanding in all aspects of project work
- Ensure maximum customer satisfaction and demonstrate highly effective and efficient performance of project work activities on all responsible projects. Lead with character, competence, connection, clarity, support, and accountability to enable others’ success
- Represent AEP, as required, with industrial customers, vendors, and regulators as assigned projects dictate
- Provide leadership, guidance and support for your assigned projects long range budget and forecast to assure effective development of estimate and cash flow basis, change management of projections, stakeholder communication and acceptance of the budget and forecasts. Provide clarity, support, and accountability to enable others’ success
- Use and help align the organization with the AEP project management organizational standards. Manage projects to those standards
- Guide the development of contracts aligned with program or project execution strategy. Direct and provide guidance in the management of contracts and contractors. Resolve all issues both technical and commercial in a timely manner or escalate as necessary
- Own, develop and/or improve guidelines, procedures, and processes to achieve organizational goals and objectives for continuous improvement
- Adherence to the established business unit/corporate policies and standards using established business unit systems and processes, including maintaining pertinent documentation
- Have experience with technical solutions related to specifics of the assigned business unit project work. Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and best practices related to the role as well as have experience in scaling those solutions. Some roles, such as those in the IT organization, will require strong technical capabilities, including all levels of application build
- Proven strength in strategic thinking and planning
- Proven strength in project risk assessment and mitigation strategies
- Highly developed conflict management, effective listening, delegation, and decision-making skillsets. Ability to challenge differing opinions in a very effective manner

Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field of study dependent on business unit requirements with twelve (12) years of qualified experience
- Qualified experience includes work in project management, major construction field experience, project estimating, project controls, project engineering, and/or comparable internal or external experience in a competitive production environment
- Experience must include a demonstrated level of consistently successful project management duties, business acumen and demonstrated proficiency in ALL of the certifying body knowledge areas
- Demonstrated mastery level PM knowledge capability in areas of construction safety, negotiations, scope development and control, cost estimating, construction contracting, project controls and reporting, quality control, risk management, etc
- PMP certification required for this position unless approval to waive the requirement is given by the organization's SVP or OPCO President
- Valid state driver's license
- Two (2) years of experience as a PROJECT MANAGER STAFF (Grade 10) is preferred, OR demonstrated competencies, knowledge and skillset through achieved results in a shorter timeline
- Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems is favorable
