[Remote] Legal Assistant
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Homefront Group is dedicated to upgrading veteran lives by assisting them in securing VA disability benefits. The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in preparing veteran disability claims for attorney review, ensuring that every case is organized, accurate, and supported by compelling evidence.
Responsibilities
- Review military service records, VA files, and medical records to identify evidence supporting disability claims
- Build clear case timelines and attorney-ready summaries of key facts, diagnoses, treatment history, and in-service events
- Prepare claims packages, supporting statements, correspondence, and legal documents for attorney review
- Maintain organized electronic case files and ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and timely
- Coordinate with attorneys, clients, medical providers, and the Department of Veterans Affairs as needed
- Track case progress, manage deadlines, and help ensure timely filings
- Conduct basic legal research and gather supporting documentation
- Utilize HubSpot, document management systems, and AI-powered legal tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality
Skills
- 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, Case Manager, or similar legal support role
- Prior experience working with VA disability claims is required
- Strong experience reviewing, organizing, and summarizing medical and legal records
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare concise, well-organized summaries
- Experience drafting legal documents, client correspondence, and supporting statements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRMs, document management systems, and legal technology platforms
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
- Comfortable learning and using AI-powered productivity tools
- Military service or prior work supporting veterans
- Experience working with VA-accredited attorneys or veterans service organizations
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Paralegal or Legal Assistant certification
