[Remote] Legal Accounting Solutions Specialist
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. LeanLaw is a legal revenue operations platform helping law firms modernize their financial operations through deep QuickBooks Online integration. The Legal Accounting Solutions Specialist will own complex customer situations, providing expert solutions and serving as the technical bridge between LeanLaw and accounting partners.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the escalation point for Customer Success and onboarding teams when a customer's situation falls outside standard workflows
- Design and document accounting workflows, QBO configuration solutions, and workflow adaptations that resolve the customer's underlying business problem
- Exercise independent authority to determine the right solution — you don't just advise, you decide and deliver
- Maintain a solution library: document recurring non-standard patterns and their resolutions so institutional knowledge scales beyond you
- Own premium and non-standard onboardings where accounting complexity, data migration requirements, or atypical firm structures require specialist involvement
- Engage at kickoff when non-standard scope is identified — ideally pre-onboarding — to scope the solution and set expectations. (late sales to kickoff)
- Work alongside the onboarding team to see complex cases through to completion, not just handoff
- Act as LeanLaw's primary technical counterpart when accounting partners — CPAs, bookkeepers, legal accounting specialists — are engaged to support a customer solution
- Evaluate and qualify accounting partners on their QBO and LeanLaw fluency; provide technical enablement where needed
- Work with the Customer Success team to coordinate partner involvement on non-standard cases, ensuring the right partner is engaged with the right context
- Surface patterns from partner interactions that inform product gaps or documentation improvements
- Build and maintain internal guides, escalation playbooks, and training materials that help the CS and onboarding teams self-solve more non-standard situations over time
- Run informal training sessions for the CS team on accounting concepts, QBO edge cases, and LeanLaw configuration patterns
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to surface recurring non-standard situations that could be solved systematically
- Partner with Sales on pre-sale technical questions involving non-standard accounting scenarios — you are the expert resource when a prospect’s situation requires more than a demo
- Build durable workflows and documented solutions — not one-off workarounds. Where a pattern repeats, your output is a reusable resource: a guide, a playbook, or a standard operating procedure that outlasts any single case
Skills
- 3–6 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a finance-adjacent role — you understand how law firm finances actually work, not just the software
- Deep QuickBooks Online fluency — configuration, chart of accounts, integrations, and the kind of edge cases that break standard setups
- Experience with LeanLaw or comparable legal revenue operations and accounting integration platforms
- Ability to take a customer's non-standard situation and design a practical, documented solution — you are a problem-solver first
- Strong written and verbal communication: you can explain complex accounting logic clearly to non-accountants
- Comfortable working independently with authority — you make decisions and own outcomes, not just recommendations
- Experience in a SaaS support, implementation, or solution engineering environment
- Background as a CPA, bookkeeper, or legal accounting specialist — or prior experience working closely with those professionals
- Familiarity with trust accounting, IOLTA, and law firm financial workflows
- Experience with data migration or multi-entity accounting structures
- Prior experience enabling or training non-technical teams on accounting concepts
- HubSpot CRM experience
- Comfort using AI tools to accelerate research, build content, and document workflows — you see AI as a lever, not a novelty
- Familiarity with PLLC and partnership accounting structures — how equity, compensation, and distributions work in professional services firms
