[Remote] Lead Engineer, Software

The Lead Engineer, Software develops, debugs, tests, deploys and supports code for various applications, working in cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality product development.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team member who understands/interprets technical problems and provides technical support
  • Solve assigned problems under guidance of more senior engineers
  • Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites
  • Design and develop a processing platform using various configuration management technologies
  • Test software development methodology (may be done in agile environment)
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, users, project managers and other engineers including Peer-Reviews to achieve elegant solutions
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations

Skills

  • 3 to 8 years of experience in software development
  • Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to manage a single line engineering project with a limited number of participants
  • Demonstrate 'Individual Leadership Behaviors' as per Celestica Leadership Imperatives
  • Solid understanding of Celestica's budgeting and accounting system and the cost accounting practices relevant to engineering work
  • Ability to communicate clearly and timely all aspects of work that may influence the profitability of the project
  • Ability to perform tasks such as analyzing, designing, and developing tests and test-automation suites
  • Experience in designing and developing a processing platform using various configuration management technologies
  • Experience in providing ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with customers, users, project managers, and other engineers
  • Ability to provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Ability to work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices
  • Ability to keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
  • Ability to perform duties in a normal office environment, which may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor
  • Ability to perform repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator)
  • Occasional travel may be required
