[Remote] Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager at ParentSquare, you’ll balance leading and mentoring a talented team of engineers with staying close to the technology itself.
Responsibilities
- Own performance management, coaching, and career growth for a diverse team of engineers, ensuring high expectations for execution and professional growth are met
- Act as an active member of your team, performing development or technical tasks, reviewing code, and contributing directly to the ecosystem
- Strong familiarity with or passion for agentic coding practices. You actively utilize and advocate for AI-assisted development tools to accelerate prototyping, code generation, and team productivity
- Build and lead your team to execute each sprint effectively, streamlining processes to ensure the right prioritization, urgency, and delivery
- Partner closely with the SVP of Engineering, Product Management, and peer engineering leaders to align your team’s milestones with company goals
- Participate actively in the hiring process as we continue to attract, interview, and retain world-class talent
- Establish and track KPIs for your team to measure performance, code quality, and execution
- Ensure security processes, protocols, and technical best practices are kept up to date and on track within your team's domain
Skills
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in direct people and team management, with a proven track record of mentoring junior developers and managing stakeholders
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in either backend software development (Ruby on Rails preferred) or cloud systems/infrastructure engineering
- Extensive experience in at least one of the following areas: Developing, deploying, and integrating large-scale, high-traffic web applications; Hardening application security, managing infrastructure-as-code, and working with AWS services
- Deep familiarity with design patterns, code reviews, unit testing, and agile or lean software development frameworks
- Proficiency with version control using Git
- Growth-oriented, adaptive, and enthusiastic about keeping up with software industry trends, security innovations, and modern engineering standards
