[Remote] Education Specialist (Secondary Math)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Texas ESC Region 16 is seeking an Education Specialist (Secondary Math) to provide targeted training and coaching for Spring Math at the secondary level. The role involves designing and organizing End of Course Math Bootcamps and supporting districts with implementation and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Provides training, coaching, and implementation support for Spring Math at the secondary level, including professional development, modeling of processes, and guidance on progress-monitoring routines. Accurately documents technical assistance and ensures districts receive timely, high-quality support aligned with ESC expectations
- Designs, develops, and organizes End-of-Course (EOC) Math & RLA Bootcamps, including creating all instructional activities, planning agendas, coordinating logistics, and facilitating 3 bootcamp events annually (fall, winter, spring). Ensures materials are research-based, engaging, and aligned to TEKS and EOC readiness
- Monitors student performance data for both Spring Math and EOC preparation, analyzing trends, identifying instructional needs, and supporting districts in making data-informed adjustments. Uses Spring Math progress-monitoring reports and EOC readiness data to guide coaching, refine bootcamp activities, and strengthen implementation fidelity across participating districts
- Sets, modifies, and meets short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, peer and supervisor feedback, contemporary research, and analysis of student learning
- Creates ongoing collegial relationships with customers, maintaining consistent communication and support through virtual platforms and scheduled on-site visits as needed
- Travels occasionally as part of job responsibilities for on-site Spring Math coaching and district support
- Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly
- Reports for work, ready to perform responsibilities
- Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16
- Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
- Supports the ESC Manifesto: mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
- Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
- Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures
- Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
- Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
- Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree required
- Texas teaching certification required
- Experience teaching Secondary mathematics and RLA required
- Texas Teaching experience required
- Math Instructional Coaching experience required
- Demonstrated ability to set goals and creatively problem solve
- Must be service-oriented and display initiative
- Demonstrated ability to manage time, calendar, job responsibilities, and travel
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team setting required
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to team/organizational goals
- Proven ability to deliver content-specific professional development as well as systemic best practice (e.g., campus-wide/district-wide) professional development
- Proven ability to train and coach personnel in various school roles (e.g., teachers, support staff, principals, central office staff)
- Master's degree preferred
