Technology Investigator (Remote)
Technology Investigator Davis Wright Tremaine LLP’s Litigation practice group is seeking a dedicated Technology Investigator for engagement through the firm’s alternative staffing program, DWTSurge. The selected individual will serve on secondment with an institutional technology client to support the expansion of the client’s enforcement capabilities to meaningfully address threat actors. The Technology Investigator will work closely with DWT attorneys, client legal teams, and client protection and enforcement teams to identify, investigate, disrupt, and pursue enforcement actions against criminals targeting the client’s systems, customers, and operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative effort to grow an enforcement program on behalf of a consumer-facing technology client. Responsibilities include gathering, organizing, and analyzing data relevant to investigations and enforcement actions; utilizing CRM systems, Microsoft Excel, and related analytical tools to support investigative workflows and reporting; conducting open-source research and online investigative analysis involving threat actors and online infrastructure; and working with DWT attorneys, client legal teams, and client investigators to develop and utilize investigative workflows and standard operating procedures.Additional responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of law enforcement referral reports, supporting fact development and digital evidence organization, and assisting with civil litigation and other enforcement-related matters. This contract position offers the flexibility of remote work and full-time hours for an initial six-month term. Candidates who excel in the role may be considered for extension and/or longer-term opportunities. Preferred Qualifications:
- 9+ years of professional experience conducting internet fraud and digital investigations, or comparable experience in forensic accounting, investigative accounting, law enforcement investigations, or related investigative disciplines.
- Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of financial crime investigations, including the analysis of financial records, forensic financial data, and related auditing or examination processes.
- Relevant degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT, Information Security, Digital Forensics, Statistics, Business Administration, Operations, Criminal Justice, Economic Crime, or Fraud Management.
- Certifications, associations and/or membership in professional organizations include:
- Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
- National Association of Fraud Investigators
- International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists
- International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners
- Former law enforcement professionals and candidates with prior law enforcement experience are preferred and encouraged to apply.
- Excellent drafting and communication skills, including oral and written advocacy.
- Interest in working on matters involving investigations, law enforcement referrals, and civil litigation.
- Ability to distill data into meaningful and thorough written work product, as well as to work meticulously to ensure work product quality.
- High level of responsiveness and client service abilities.
- Ability to work remotely on a full-time basis primarily supporting West Coast hours.
- Excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to produce high quality work product with minimal supervision and direction.

Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below). This role is eligible for benefits. Salary Range The hourly range for this position in CA, IL, MD, MN, NY, OR, WA, and WDC is $175 to $200 per hour.
