[Remote] Technical Writer - Homeland Security
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Team Carney, Inc. supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through its Technical Writer position. This role involves creating clear and user-friendly technical documentation to assist national border security agents in their operations.
Responsibilities
- Draft Technical Documentation: Research, write, and format detailed operational guides, user manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Support Curriculum Development: Edit, proofread, and storyboard CBT training scripts, lesson guides, and study manuals
- Enforce Style Standards: Maintain and distribute templates and style guides, ensuring complete compliance with CBP writing directives
- Manage Repositories: Maintain highly structured documentation repositories, ensuring rigorous version control and accessibility
Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, or a closely related role
- Bachelor's degree in Professional Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- High proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and modern Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background suitability check
