[Remote] Systems Administrator (Iwakuni, Japan)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. RMC Global is seeking a Systems Administrator for a full-time position focused on enhancing security for military and commercial partners. The role involves managing systems administration tasks, cybersecurity, and risk management, while ensuring the integrity and availability of operational technology systems.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux), maintain virtualization environment, webservers and database servers
- Assist in configuration control boards as a reviewer, develop backout plans, develop implementation steps, schedule downtime and perform system maintenance in support of functionality upgrades and cybersecurity hardening
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, or local authentication services, enforce least privilege and multi-factor authentication, and create and disable user accounts in accordance with role changes on System Access Authorization Request documents
- Coordinate with cybersecurity, compliance, and facility maintenance teams to maximize availability and integrity of the platforms and support integration of new equipment into control networks
- Assess compliance using NIST, DoD, USMC and other security requirements to include the CNSSI 1253 Security controls and DISA STIGs/SRGs
- Develop, submit, and maintain artifacts in concert with cybersecurity/RMF teammates for control systems and SCADA environments, including hardware and software inventories
- Support site assessments, system categorization, and cybersecurity evaluations for operational technology (OT)
- Continuously assess the system availability, integrity and confidentiality of assigned systems by verifying configurations, reviewing vulnerability and configuration compliance audits
- Assist in assessment activities on both FRCS/OT and IT according to documented requirements (i.e. STIG/SRG) and reports/incidents from tools such as ACAS, Nessus, and Dragos
- Analyze assessment data to identify system deficiencies and vulnerabilities
- Drive continuous improvement of computer network defense capabilities through the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes
- Provide remediation recommendations to address vulnerabilities, develop and work through change management processes to ensure configuration control
- Stay abreast of emerging cyber threats, attack techniques, and industry best practices in computer network defense. Assess their potential impact on the organization and make recommendations for proactive measures
- Participate in conferences, work groups, meetings and other required events
- Travel to supported installations and required locations to provide related cybersecurity expertise
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or IT related field or at least 4 years of experience in system administration
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in computer systems administration in Windows and Linux environments
- DoD 8140 compliant as a Level II systems Administrator 451 (Security+, Network+, MCSA, CEH)
- Obtaining a DoD Secret Clearance
- Possession of a current passport with a minimum of 8 months remaining until the expiration date
- Willingness and capability to travel, CONUS and OCONUS approximately 20% of the time
