[Remote] Software Engineer II
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. VERSANT Media is an industry-changing media and entertainment business seeking a Software Engineer II to join Fandango's Platform Operations team. In this role, you'll help build and enhance tools that improve developer productivity and contribute to scalable engineering solutions.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of internal platform tools and services under the guidance of senior engineers
- Build and enhance backend services, APIs, and data models that support platform capabilities across multiple products
- Develop user-friendly frontend experiences for internal tools using React and Next.js
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering standards and best practices
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, Platform, Infrastructure, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to deliver reliable technical solutions
- Assist with monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting applications using logging, metrics, and observability tools
- Support software deployments through CI/CD pipelines and participate in maintaining healthy production environments
- Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, and continuous improvements to engineering processes and development workflows
- Participate in an on-call rotation with guidance from senior team members as experience grows
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education or practical experience
- Demonstrated programming experience through internships, co-ops, academic projects, open-source contributions, or up to 2 years of professional software development experience
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as JavaScript or TypeScript
- Exposure to modern web development frameworks such as React through coursework, projects, or professional experience
- Basic understanding of REST APIs, databases, and software development fundamentals
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Understanding of software testing concepts and a willingness to write maintainable, well-tested code
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and a desire to continuously learn and grow as a software engineer
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment
- Internship or project experience building web applications or internal tools
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS through coursework or personal projects
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and modern software development workflows
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies
- Interest in developer productivity, platform engineering, or improving engineering workflows
