[Remote] Senior Mechanical Engineer Manager
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Stord is focused on transforming fulfillment networks, and they are seeking a Senior Manager of Automation Engineering. This role involves the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of mechanical systems, along with leading complex capital projects and collaborating with various teams to ensure effective conveyance solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end design and implementation of conveyance systems — sortation lines, conveyor networks, packing and manifesting equipment, and associated mechanical infrastructure — across new and existing Stord facilities
- Develop facility layouts, equipment specifications, and capital project scopes that translate operational throughput and labor targets into practical, ROI-positive conveyance solutions
- Manage project timelines, installation sequencing, and commissioning in close coordination with facility general managers and operations teams
- Partner with Real Estate and IE during site selection and facility planning to scope conveyance investments early in the lifecycle
- Collaborate with the Stord Labs Solutions team on integrated deployments where conveyance and more advanced automation intersect
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of IE experience, with 3+ years in a people management role
- Demonstrated track record leading complex, multi-site capital projects from concept through commissioning — on time and on scope
- Strong vendor management experience: RFPs, contract negotiation, and OEM/integrator accountability
- Experience in a 3PL, e-commerce fulfillment, or parcel sortation environment
- Familiarity with WMS integration touchpoints for conveyance scanning and control systems
- Six Sigma, Lean, or equivalent continuous improvement certification
