[Remote] Senior Manager - Technical Program Management
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Maximus is currently seeking a Senior Manager - Technical Program Management. This role involves driving the maturity of the technical PMO practice, managing teams of technical program managers, and leading the delivery of complex technical programs while ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
Responsibilities
- Drive technical Project Management Office (PMO) practice maturity by defining priorities, success metrics, processes, and delivery standards that improve operational efficiency and align execution with organizational strategy
- Manage a large team or multiple smaller teams, typically comprised of other managers and individual contributors (technical program managers, product owners, scrum masters), ensuring they have the appropriate tools, skills, and training to support project needs and their own professional development
- Demonstrate technical and domain leadership by leveraging system architecture and integration knowledge to facilitate solution design sessions, translate complex technical concepts into actionable decisions and execution plans, and surface risks and dependencies for the delivery of technical implementations
- Own the delivery of concurrent, complex, cross-functional, highly technical programs that require deep coordination across multiple teams, organizations, systems, dependencies, and priorities
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, delivery leaders, and product teams to translate business strategy, priorities, and technology goals into actionable plans, milestones, and product delivery outcomes, while leading other technical project managers to drive execution
- Operate effectively in undefined or evolving problem spaces by bringing structure and ownership to loosely defined initiatives, providing long-term solutions that are as simple as possible, and driving alignment when ownership and requirements are not yet clear through sound judgment and data-driven decision-making
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 7+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical designs
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of technical project management discipline, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk in a highly technical environment working directly with software engineering teams and business teams
- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical designs
- 7+ years leading and directing the work of other employees, including responsibility for personnel actions including; hiring, performance management, and termination
- Experience regularly interacting with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers
- Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship
- Agile/SAFe experience and/or certifications
- PMP, CSM, and ACP preferred
