[Remote] Senior AU Tax Accountant

They are seeking a highly experienced Senior AU Tax Accountant to deliver high-quality tax compliance, accounting, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of Australian clients.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review Australian income tax returns for: Individuals
- Sole Traders
- Partnerships
- Companies
- Trusts
- Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs)
- Ensure all tax obligations are completed accurately and lodged within statutory deadlines
- Provide technical tax advice relating to: Income Tax
- Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
- Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT)
- Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- Division 7A
- Payroll Tax
- Superannuation Compliance
- Identify tax planning and tax minimisation opportunities for clients
- Research and interpret Australian taxation legislation and ATO rulings
- Prepare and review year-end financial statements for a broad range of entity structures
- Prepare management reports, reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting schedules
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements
- Assist clients with accounting queries and financial reporting best practices
- Prepare SMSF financial statements and annual tax returns
- Liaise with SMSF auditors and address audit queries
- Ensure compliance with SIS regulations and superannuation legislation
- Maintain accurate pension, contribution, and member balance reporting
- Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS)
- Review GST treatment and provide advice on GST compliance matters
- Assist with payroll tax reporting and superannuation obligations
- Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely lodgements
- Manage a portfolio of Australian Public Practice clients across various industries
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and service delivery
- Participate in client meetings and provide practical taxation and business advice
- Identify business improvement opportunities and value-added advisory solutions
- Review work completed by junior and intermediate accountants
- Provide coaching, training, and technical support to team members
- Promote quality assurance standards and continuous process improvement
- Assist in developing efficient workflows and leveraging cloud-based accounting technologies
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' Australian Public Practice experience in taxation and accounting
- Strong exposure to managing engagements for: Sole Traders, Companies, Trusts, Partnerships, SMSFs
- Demonstrated experience in tax compliance, financial reporting, BAS preparation, and client advisory services
- Advanced knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and compliance requirements
- Strong experience using: Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Comprehensive understanding of: Individual Taxation, Company Taxation, Trust Taxation, SMSF Compliance, GST, FBT, CGT, Division 7A, Payroll Tax, Superannuation Legislation
- Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and ATO regulations
- CA ANZ or CPA Australia qualification preferred
- Additional Australian taxation qualifications will be highly regarded
- Class Super or BGL (preferred)
- Previous experience reviewing and supervising the work of junior accountants is highly desirable
