Remote Plant Physiologist - Climate Resilience Research
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Remote Plant Physiologist to join their cutting-edge research team in a fully remote capacity. This role will focus on investigating plant responses to environmental stressors, particularly those associated with climate change, and developing strategies to enhance crop resilience. You will be instrumental in advancing our understanding of plant physiology and contributing to the development of climate-smart agricultural solutions. Responsibilities: Design and conduct experiments to study plant physiological responses to abiotic stresses such as drought, heat, salinity, and elevated CO2. Analyze plant physiological data, including photosynthetic rates, transpiration, water use efficiency, and hormonal signaling. Utilize advanced physiological measurement techniques and equipment. Collaborate with geneticists, breeders, and agronomists to identify and develop climate-resilient crop varieties. Interpret experimental results and contribute to scientific publications and presentations. Stay abreast of the latest research in plant physiology, climate change biology, and crop adaptation. Develop and refine research protocols and methodologies. Manage laboratory resources and ensure adherence to safety protocols. Contribute to grant writing and securing research funding. Communicate research findings effectively to internal teams and external collaborators. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Plant Physiology, Plant Biology, Botany, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral research experience focused on plant responses to environmental stress. Demonstrated expertise in plant physiological measurement techniques (e.g., gas exchange analysis, chlorophyll fluorescence, stable isotope analysis). Strong understanding of molecular and biochemical mechanisms underlying plant stress tolerance. Proven experience in experimental design, data analysis (including statistical software), and scientific writing. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and creatively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment. Experience with controlled environment agriculture (e.g., growth chambers, greenhouses) is advantageous. Familiarity with genomics and transcriptomics related to stress response is a plus. Must be able to work independently and manage research projects effectively from a remote location.
