Remote Medical Coder - Inpatient or Outpatient
Location Fully Remote (United States) Job Type Full-Time About the Role We are seeking skilled Remote Medical Coders specializing in either Inpatient or Outpatient coding to join our team. In this role, you will review and accurately assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. Your work will directly impact accurate reimbursement and compliance in the revenue cycle process.
Key Responsibilities
Assign accurate codes for inpatient or outpatient services based on medical record documentation. Ensure coding compliance with regulatory guidelines, including CMS and payer-specific policies. Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies and clarify documentation. Stay updated on coding regulations, including ICD-10 and CPT updates. Meet productivity and quality benchmarks as outlined by the organization.
Qualifications
Current certification (CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent). Experience in inpatient or outpatient coding (minimum 1-2 years preferred). Proficiency with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Experience with coding software and electronic health records (EHR). Reliable internet connection and a secure home office setup.
