[Remote] Manager, Consolidations & Business Venture Accountant

The Manager – Consolidations & Business Ventures will oversee the consolidation of joint ventures and subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with GAAP while supporting the company's growth objectives.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end consolidation process for all joint ventures, subsidiaries, and variable interest entities into MARA’s consolidated financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including consolidating journal entries, intercompany eliminations, and equity method adjustments in accordance with ASC 810, ASC 323, and related guidance
- Map and maintain GL accounts from subsidiary and joint-venture ledgers to the MARA parent chart of accounts, maintaining consistency as the account structure evolves
- Coordinate with subsidiary and joint venture controllers to ensure timely and accurate trial balance submissions, reconcile intercompany balances, and resolve reporting variances
- Establish new subsidiaries within the ERP, including legal-entity setup, chart of accounts alignment, intercompany configuration, and consolidation hierarchies
- Review consolidated financial statements and related disclosures, including noncontrolling interest calculations and segment reporting support
- Ensure ongoing compliance with U.S. GAAP for consolidation, equity method accounting, and intercompany transactions, and support SOX controls over the consolidation process
- Manage post-close accounting activities, including working capital adjustments and related true-ups, contingent consideration, earn-outs, measurement period adjustments, and integration-related charges, in coordination with Business Development and counterparties
- Evaluate accounting implications of proposed new ventures, joint ventures, partnerships, and strategic initiatives, and participate in early-stage planning so accounting and reporting considerations are addressed in deal structures and contracts
- Establish accounting and operational processes for newly launched ventures, ensuring consistency with corporate policies and internal control frameworks
- Partner with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits, serving as the primary point of contact for consolidation and venture accounting inquiries
- Drive process improvement across consolidation and venture accounting workflows
- Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned or as necessary
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
- A minimum of 5-8 years or relevant accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with joint ventures, equity investments, and business combinations
- Strong understanding of financial statement consolidation mechanics, including intercompany eliminations, foreign currency translation (ASC 830), and noncontrolling interest
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with competing deadlines
- Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing requirements
- Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and other reporting and business intelligence systems
- Experience in a publicly traded company environment with SEC reporting responsibilities
- Public Accounting/CPA is desirable
- NetSuite preferred
- Basic understanding of Blockchain / Crypto Currency
