[Remote] Lead Product Designer, Core
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Bubble is a company dedicated to empowering users to create software through its AI visual development platform. They are seeking a Lead Product Designer to enhance the core application building interfaces, focusing on usability and intuitive design for a diverse user base.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Lead Product Designer for Bubble’s core platform visual editor, shaping the design vision and execution for the foundational capabilities that power our entire builder experience. Champion simplicity, clarity, and ease of use so that Bubble’s most advanced tools feel intuitive and approachable to builders of all backgrounds
- Own the end-to-end design process for new and existing features—from research and ideation through high-fidelity design, validation, and launch—crafting cohesive, discoverable, and efficient experiences across Bubble’s building and editing tools
- Play a central role in extending Bubble’s AI capabilities into the visual editor, designing hybrid AI-and-visual workflows that keep builders firmly in control while making complex tasks feel faster, smarter, and easier
- Drive cross-functional alignment by partnering closely with PMs, engineers, and other designers to integrate new interaction patterns, workflows, and technologies in a way that feels natural, consistent, and predictable across the product
- Lead user research and usability testing for your product area, uncovering friction and opportunities, and turning insights into pragmatic design improvements that reduce cognitive load, improve learnability, and help users build faster with fewer mistakes
Skills
- 10+ years of experience in Product Design or related fields (UX, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Experience Architecture), including work on complex, multi-surface products where usability and clarity were core outcomes
- A track record of designing and shipping high-impact end-user facing features on mature platforms, with a portfolio that demonstrates system-level thinking, end-to-end ownership, and measurable improvements to ease of use and overall experience quality
- Strong capability in orchestrating design workstreams across multiple product areas, collaborating with and influencing cross-functional partners, and thoughtfully integrating new interaction patterns and technologies into existing workflows without adding friction
- Proven ability to mentor and grow associate designers, raising the bar on usability, interaction quality, and user-centered decision-making while fostering a culture of thoughtful critique and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to frame UX tradeoffs, present complex design decisions to executives and cross-disciplinary teams, and advocate for user needs in a way that aligns with business goals
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field
- Your portfolio should feature product work that has been released to users, ideally on complex platforms or tools, not just concept projects
- Your portfolio should highlight at least one case study where you significantly improved platform-wide usability, clarity, or ease of use across multiple surfaces
- Your portfolio should demonstrate strong systems thinking, showing both breadth and depth in UX and interaction design across interconnected flows and features
- Your portfolio should clearly articulate your design process and show how your work evolved over time: the business problem, constraints and assumptions, initial direction, key iterations, and the final outcome
- Your portfolio should explain how your designs advanced company or product objectives—such as adoption, efficiency, or quality—while also meaningfully improving the user experience
- You must provide a password to your portfolio at application time
