[Remote] Experienced C&I Solar/ BESS Project Manager
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Orbital Energy is a renewable energy engineering, construction, and consulting company. They are seeking an Experienced C&I Solar/ BESS Project Manager to oversee the full project life-cycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead feasibility, site selection, and preliminary design reviews
- Drive financial modeling, PPA/pricing inputs, and investment memos
- Oversee entitlement, permitting, utility interconnection, and environmental studies
- Coordinate early stakeholder engagement—landowners, utilities, AHJs, community groups
- Develop baseline schedules, risk registers, and cap-ex/op-ex budgets for hand-off to EPC
- Convert development deliverables into detailed project execution plans
- Manage EPC partners, subcontractors, and vendors—RFPs, contract negotiation, change orders
- Control schedule, cost, scope, and quality using earnedvalue and critical-path methods
- Lead weekly progress meetings; publish KPI dashboards and executive reports
- Own startup, commissioning, punch-list close-out, and turnover to O&M or asset management
- Mentor project managers and coordinators; foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Serve as the single point of contact to senior leadership, investors, and clients
- Champion proactive risk management, regulatory compliance, and ESG standards
Skills
- MANDATORY C&I SOLAR AND/OR BESS EXPERIENCE
- Ability to adapt and change focus quickly and often
- Experience managing multiple projects in different stages of their project cycles
- Experience leading feasibility, site selection, and preliminary design reviews
- Experience driving financial modeling, PPA/pricing inputs, and investment memos
- Experience overseeing entitlement, permitting, utility interconnection, and environmental studies
- Experience coordinating early stakeholder engagement—landowners, utilities, AHJs, community groups
- Experience developing baseline schedules, risk registers, and cap-ex/op-ex budgets for hand-off to EPC
- Experience converting development deliverables into detailed project execution plans
- Experience managing EPC partners, subcontractors, and vendors—RFPs, contract negotiation, change orders
- Experience controlling schedule, cost, scope, and quality using earned value and critical-path methods
- Experience leading weekly progress meetings; publishing KPI dashboards and executive reports

- Experience mentoring project managers and coordinators; fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement
