[Remote] Electronic Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Four Seasons Yachts is seeking an experienced Electronic Engineer to join their dynamic team on an ultra-luxury yacht. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electronic systems to ensure operational success and enhance guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electronic systems related to: Nautical and Operational Technology (OT) systems in both the Bridge and Engine Room
- Electronic safety and security systems, including alarms and surveillance
- Electronic chart and navigation systems
- Fire detection and suppression systems
- Public Address and General Alarm systems
- Internal and external communication systems (wired, radio, and wireless)
- GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) and satellite communication systems
- Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) systems
- Electronic office equipment and publishing devices connected to OT systems
- Provide support and assistance in the maintenance of other systems as needed, based on skills and training
- Support safety and redundancy testing within the scope of responsibility, ensuring systems meet safety standards and operate optimally
- Perform maintenance tasks outlined in the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and report results to the 1st Electrical Engineer or designated superior
- Ensure the correct operation of communication, navigation, and safety systems in all conditions to ensure safety, reliability, and guest satisfaction
- Adhere strictly to all safety, quality, and environmental regulations and procedures onboard
- Follow ISM (International Safety Management) guidelines and other relevant quality systems, ensuring compliance with maritime industry standards
- Participate actively in training sessions within the Electro-Technical Department to stay up-to-date on system developments and safety practices
- Monitor and report stock levels of electronic spare parts and materials stored in the electrical storerooms, ensuring the availability of critical spares
- Conduct regular inventory counts to track stock and ensure all equipment is properly stocked and available when needed
- Promote a sustainable health and safety culture onboard by strictly following HESS (Health, Environmental, Safety Management System) regulations and health protocols to prevent the spread of diseases
- Report any health or safety violations or concerns to the Head of the Department to ensure immediate corrective action
- Contribute to maintaining a healthy and safe work environment for all crew and guests
Skills
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- Certification in relevant maritime safety standards and communication systems
- Proven experience working as an Electronic Engineer or Electronic Technician on high-end yachts, luxury vessels, or commercial ships
- In-depth knowledge of onboard electronic systems, including navigation, communication, and operational technology
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex electronic systems
- Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills to work effectively with other team members in the Electro-Technical and other onboard departments
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support to junior crew members, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement
- Strong focus on ensuring that all communication and entertainment systems are operating seamlessly to contribute to a luxurious guest experience
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize any impact on guest satisfaction
- Efficient and proactive in monitoring and maintaining electronic systems, ensuring all equipment functions properly at all times
- Ability to identify potential issues before they affect operations, ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of critical systems
- In-depth knowledge of relevant international maritime regulations, including safety and communication systems compliance
- Ensure the yacht's electronic systems are in full compliance with ISM, SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea), and MARPOL (Marine Pollution) standards
- Ability to identify and recommend improvements or upgrades to onboard systems to keep the yacht technologically advanced and operationally efficient
- Strategic mindset to plan and anticipate system needs based on operational schedules
- Ability to ensure smooth integration of electronic systems with the overall yacht operations, ensuring all departments work cohesively
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that electronic systems contribute to the comfort and safety of guests and crew

- High attention to detail when conducting maintenance, repairs, and inspections of electronic systems to ensure operational accuracy and safety
- Knowledge of GMDSS, satellite communications, and fire detection systems is highly desirable
