[Remote] Director Of Field Operations (Remote)

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. They are seeking a proven leader to build, scale, and lead a high-performing field operations organization supporting utility-scale solar and energy storage assets, responsible for driving safety, operational accountability, and service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Own performance and execution of a nationwide field service organization consisting of Regional Managers, District Managers, and hundreds of technicians
- Drive accountability and performance across all levels of the field organization
- Ensure consistent, high-quality execution of preventative and corrective maintenance across all sites
- Establish clear operating rhythms, expectations, and performance standards
- Lead from the front in building and sustaining a best-in-class safety culture
- Ensure absolute compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and all company and client safety requirements
- Implement scalable safety programs, training, and accountability mechanisms across all regions
- Own incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective action to prevent recurrence
- Drive measurable improvement in leading and lagging safety indicators
- Design, implement, and enforce standardized processes and SOPs across all field activities
- Eliminate variability in execution by driving consistency in maintenance, troubleshooting, and reporting
- Scale systems, tools, and workflows to support rapid portfolio and organizational growth
- Lead adoption of CMMS, digital field tools, and data-driven decision-making
- Own key performance metrics including safety, uptime, response time, productivity, and quality
- Identify gaps quickly and execute with urgency to resolve issues and improve performance
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that materially impact reliability and cost efficiency
- Ensure high-quality field data and reporting to support operational and executive decision-making
- Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier field leaders and technicians
- Establish clear career paths, training programs, and performance expectations
- Create a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous development
- Align workforce planning and resource allocation with business needs across a national footprint
- Ensure rapid, effective response to outages and service events in line with SLAs
- Maintain strong client relationships through consistent execution and transparency
- Drive a service mindset across the organization with a focus on reliability and customer outcomes
- Work cross-functionally with Performance Engineering, Project Management, Safety, and Quality to remove barriers and improve performance
- Align field operations with broader company strategy, growth, and financial objectives
- Provide clear, data-driven updates to executive leadership
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience leading field operations, service, or O&M organizations within energy, utilities, or industrial sectors
- Utility-scale solar experience strongly preferred; experience in adjacent energy sectors (wind, T&D, conventional generation, or industrial electrical services) is highly valued
- Demonstrated success leading large, geographically dispersed teams (100+ personnel preferred)
- Proven ability to scale and professionalize field service organizations
- Relentless focus on safety, execution, and accountability
- Strong operational instincts with the ability to quickly diagnose and solve problems
- Experience implementing standardized processes across multiple regions
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels
- High ownership mindset with a bias for action
- Willingness to travel up to 50% across the United States
