[Remote] Director, Business Development Energy Storage
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. TAE Power Solutions is the electrification spin-off from TAE Technologies, specializing in power management technology for energy storage and electric vehicles. The Business Development Director of Energy Storage will lead the commercial function, focusing on generating leads, developing business opportunities, and driving revenue growth in the energy storage markets.
Responsibilities
- Generate and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads sufficient to meet and exceed company revenue and growth targets
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the Commercial & Industrial and Utility Scale energy storage markets
- Proactively open new customer accounts, partnerships, and commercial channels
- Expand the company’s market presence and establish long-term customer relationships in target segments
- Lead customer engagements from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, and contract execution
- Manage and prioritize the commercial pipeline, ensuring disciplined execution and timely follow-up
- Coordinate the preparation of commercial proposals in collaboration with engineering, finance, and product teams
- Support contract negotiations and ensure commercially sound agreements aligned with company objectives
- Coordinate and manage the daily activities of the commercial and business development team
- Establish clear priorities, accountability, and execution discipline across the commercial organization
- Ensure effective internal coordination between commercial, engineering, product, and finance teams
- Support the scaling and development of the commercial function as the company grows
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, developers, EPCs, utilities, and strategic partners
- Represent the company in customer meetings, industry events, and commercial discussions
- Maintain a strong understanding of market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs
Skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial, business development, or sales roles within the energy storage (BESS) and renewable energy sectors
- Proven track record of generating leads, developing pipeline, and closing commercial opportunities in Commercial & Industrial and Utility Scale markets
- Direct and demonstrable experience working with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Strong understanding of the renewable energy and energy storage value chain, including developers, EPCs, utilities, and end customers
- Candidates without direct experience in BESS and renewable energy commercial roles will not be considered
- Experience managing commercial teams or coordinating cross-functional commercial activities
- Technical background in electrical engineering, energy systems, or related field
- Experience working in high-growth or fast-paced environments
- Existing network of relevant industry contacts and customers
