[Remote] DevOps Software Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Agile Resources, Inc. is seeking a Senior DevOps Software Engineer focused on backend Python development for mission-critical healthcare products. The role involves building and operating AWS-native services, improving deployment automation, and ensuring operational reliability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python backend services and APIs, writing custom business logic that supports core product workflows
- Build AWS-native application components using services such as S3, Lambda, and Step Functions, and integrate with related services including ECS, RDS/Aurora, CloudWatch, and IAM
- Drive code quality through testable design, code reviews, and disciplined Git-based workflows from feature development through release
- Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes for application and infrastructure changes
- Operate and support production systems by troubleshooting incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and driving fixes through to validation and closure
- Strengthen monitoring, logging, alerting, and runbooks to improve observability and reduce mean time to detect and resolve issues
- Apply security best practices for cloud infrastructure and application services, including identity/access controls and least-privilege patterns
- Partner with product and engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned to healthcare data and compliance expectations
Skills
- Strong Python backend development experience, with hands-on coding as a significant portion of the role (60%+), including writing custom business logic for an in-house product
- Strong AWS experience building and operating cloud-native application and infrastructure services, including S3, Lambda, and Step Functions (and related services such as ECS, RDS/Aurora, CloudWatch, and IAM)
- Healthcare industry experience, ideally supporting pharmacy, medical claims, or prescription data and related workflows
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering roles
- Proven experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar
- Experience supporting production systems, troubleshooting incidents, and improving reliability
- Experience working in a high-control compliance environment (SOC2)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
