[Remote] DESIM Portfolio Management & Implementation Associate
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The D. E. Shaw Group is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented critical thinker to join their Investment Management group as a portfolio management and implementation associate. This role involves managing investment portfolios and collaborating with various teams to ensure alignment with investment objectives.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with quantitative researchers to support day-to-day portfolio management and investment operations
- Manage and oversee the implementation of investment portfolios, ensuring execution aligns with both investor-directed and internal objectives and guidelines
- Work on ad hoc and bespoke projects, such as analyzing the impact of proposed changes to portfolio optimization
- Solve analytical problems related to trading and portfolio implementation, ranging from small-scale to complex challenges
- Improve and automate systems and processes involved in daily portfolio management activities
- Participate in the implementation of new strategies, funds, and separately managed accounts
- Collaborate with a broad range of teams—including technology, trading, portfolio strategy, and business operations—as well as colleagues across finance, corporate development, legal and compliance, and other firmwide functions
Skills
- A bachelor's degree; an advanced degree is a plus
- One to four years of finance-related experience in a comparable role is preferred
- Keen attention to detail, excellent written communication skills, and demonstrated analytical and math skills
- Comfort experimenting with and applying generative AI tools
- Proficiency in Python programming and debugging, preferably including writing code to implement complex mathematical models and computations
- A willingness to learn and the ability to effectively manage short-term and long-term priorities in a fast-paced environment
