[Remote] Contract Legal Cite Check Analyst
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking an experienced Legal Cite Check Analyst to support the firm’s legal teams in the review, verification, and quality control of citations and legal authorities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of legal documents while supporting efficient workflows in a fast-paced law firm environment.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of legal citations, quotations, and authorities, including cases, statutes, regulations, court rules, and secondary sources
- Ensuring citations comply with The Bluebook, court rules, local rules, and judge-specific requirements
- Confirming authorities remain current and in good standing using legal research and citator tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, and PACER
- Identifying and correcting citation, formatting, grammatical, typographical, and substantive inconsistencies in legal and business documents
- Reviewing AI-assisted work product to identify inaccurate, unsupported, fabricated, or misattributed citations and factual assertions
- Assisting legal teams with validation of AI-generated research, summaries, and draft content for accuracy and professional compliance
- Reviewing tables of authorities, tables of contents, hyperlinks, exhibits, appendices, and record citations for completeness and accuracy
- Supporting litigation teams with quality control and filing preparation in high-volume, deadline-driven environments
- Utilizing proofreading and document comparison tools to identify revisions, inconsistencies, and formatting discrepancies
- Maintaining confidentiality of client information and sensitive legal matters in accordance with firm policies and professional standards
Skills
- 5+ years of cite-checking experience at a mid-sized or large law firm
- Residency in an approved jurisdiction: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, DC, or WV
- Strong expertise in proofreading and cite-checking complex legal documents
- Advanced knowledge of The Bluebook, legal citation standards, and legal research methods
- Experience with Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, electronic court filing systems, and AI-assisted legal technology tools
- Ability to identify inaccurate, unsupported, or AI-generated legal citations and factual content
- Strong attention to detail, proofreading, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, document management, and comparison tools
- Knowledge of federal and state court rules and filing procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, both independently and collaboratively
- Flexibility to work remotely with variable hours, including evenings, overnight hours, and weekends as needed
- Bachelor's degree and paralegal training preferred, or equivalent experience
