Pave Talent is a founder-led custom software development firm focused on the energy and utility sector, seeking a Business Development Executive. The role involves opening doors with key buyers, building relationships, managing a sales pipeline, and collaborating with founders to close deals.
Responsibilities
- Open doors with director and C-level buyers and build real relationships, by phone, email, events, golf, and lunch
- Build and own your pipeline. Run consultative discovery, find the opportunity, and carry it through qualification
- Hand off to the founders to scope and close, with you in the room the whole way. You create the deals; we close them with you
- Keep the right relationships warm for the months (sometimes a year) it takes a buyer to be ready
- Help shape and train the junior rep we're hiring, and grow into leading that team
Skills
- You sell custom software, technology services, IT consulting, or scoped engagements (not off-the-shelf product off a price sheet), OR
- You sell B2B into the energy or utility world (utilities, electric cooperatives, energy-adjacent industrial and manufacturing) and you own those buyer relationships
- You sell to operations, finance, and the CEO, not the IT department
- You're senior enough to be instantly credible with executives, and you build relationships that mature over months
- Relationship-builders who'd rather own the front of the funnel than grind a closing quota
- People who want to build a function and lead it, not slot into someone else's machine
- Honest, accountable, carry-your-own-bag operators
