[Remote] Board Member - Marketing

The Board Member – Marketing role focuses on building the marketing strategy and brand visibility, collaborating with team members to develop marketing materials and initiatives while ensuring alignment with the organization's mission.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with other board members and core team members to shape marketing objectives
- Develops marketing materials and reviews campaigns
- Ensures alignment with the organization’s mission and values
- Designs and implements digital marketing initiatives
- Engages in social media activities
- Creates content and messaging for outreach to partners, sponsors, and community organizers
- Monitors key marketing metrics and identifies opportunities to grow user engagement and event participation
- Provides mentorship to volunteers or staff involved in marketing activities
- Commits up to 20 hours per month of hands-on time to build videos, design event materials, coordinate Google Ads strategies with Product and Engineering, and assist sales in preparing for partner meetings
Skills
- Strong background in marketing strategy, brand development, or communications, ideally with experience in mission-driven or nonprofit organizations
- Knowledge of digital marketing, including social media management, email campaigns, and online community engagement
- Experience designing and implementing Google Ads strategies
- Video / tutorial design skills to help build promotional and educational materials to help with the sales process
- Experience in stakeholder or partner outreach, such as building relationships with businesses, sponsors, or community organizations
- Ability to analyze marketing performance data, identify trends, and recommend improvements based on measurable outcomes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to diverse audiences
- Comfort working in a remote, collaborative environment using online tools for meetings and project coordination
- Commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement, and inclusive practices
- Previous board, advisory, or leadership experience is beneficial but not required
