[Remote] Backend Engineer III (Hybrid, NYC)

They are seeking a highly experienced Backend Engineer III to design, build, and scale foundational services that orchestrate data and execution logic across their products.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of core platform services that ingest, process, and route security events from different sources to various execution contexts
- Drive the architecture for the Detection Content Management Platform (DCMP/CMS), creating advanced CI/CD and DevOps tooling to enable content authors to treat detections as code
- Develop highly scalable and fault-tolerant microservices, leveraging languages like Go and technologies such as Kubernetes, Flink, and distributed databases (e.g., RocksDB)
- Contribute to the evolution of the Unified Detections Management (UDM) system, ensuring a consistent and comprehensive detection experience for all customers
- Serve as a technical leader, mentoring mid-level and senior engineers, and driving cross-functional alignment on complex technical challenges
- Architect and implement features related to cross-cutting concerns like Policy, Flight Control, and Observability, ensuring platform stability and operational excellence
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and other engineering teams (Engine, UDM, Content) to translate strategic vision into well-defined, executable technical roadmaps
Skills
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on large-scale distributed systems and internet-scale challenges
- Deep expertise in one or more modern programming languages (Go preferred)
- Proven track record of architecting and delivering critical, highly available, and scalable platform services in a cloud environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
- Extensive experience with data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink) and distributed computing concepts
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity or SIEM principles, data models, and content/rule authoring lifecycles is a significant plus
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in a Staff-level role, driving multi-quarter initiatives, and influencing technical direction across multiple teams
- Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes
- Experience with query languages and runtime environments
- Familiarity with the challenges of low-latency, real-time event processing and pattern matching
- Prior work in a security domain or building platforms for developers/content authors
