Nonprofit Underwriting Specialist

We're currently partnering with a growing, well-backed insurance platform that is continuing to invest heavily in its specialty commercial lines business.They are looking to add an Underwriting Specialist to their team, focused on nonprofit, human services, and education risks.What you'll be doingManaging and growing a book of commercial lines business (new business + renewals)Evaluating risk, pricing coverage, and making underwriting decisionsHandling endorsements, negotiations, and coverage structuringBuilding and maintaining strong agency / broker relationshipsPartnering internally with underwriting support and cross-functional teamsContributing to a collaborative team environment and sharing technical knowledgeWhat they're looking for~5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experienceExperience handling complex or specialty accounts (not purely small business)Exposure to both new business production and renewalsStrong communication skills and comfort working directly with brokersPreferred:Background in nonprofit, human services, or education risksOr underwriting experience in adjacent areas such as:public entity / municipalitiesmanagement liabilityhabitational or complex casualtyWhy this role stands outFully remote with light travel tied to your territoryDedicated underwriting support (no getting buried in admin work)No requirement to bring over a book of businessOpportunity to step into a true specialist seat in a niche marketStrong internal growth and promotion pathwaysTight-knit, collaborative team culture
