Job Description

This interim Accounts Payable Supervisor role supports the accounts payable team while the current manager is on leave. You will oversee day-to-day AP operations, guide two junior specialists, and handle a high volume of domestic and international payments. The position is fully remote and requires deep hands-on experience with Dynamics 365 (D365), nonprofit accounting, and complex payables processes, including ACH, international wires, and journal entries.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of approximately 150 invoices per week.
  • Process invoices end-to-end, including verification, coding, approvals, and entry into Dynamics 365 (D365).
  • Prepare and execute ACH payments, international wire transfers, and other electronic payments in alignment with established policies and controls.
  • Create, review, and post journal entries related to accounts payable and expense allocations.
  • Utilize online banking platforms such as Cash Pro, Bank of America, and Core Pay to initiate, monitor, and reconcile payments.
  • Support month-end close activities by reconciling AP sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Apply nonprofit accounting knowledge to ensure proper handling of taxes, exemptions, and other compliance-related requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and support to two junior AP specialists, helping them prioritize work and resolve issues.
  • Ensure strong customer service to internal stakeholders and external vendors by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries and resolving payment issues.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of invoices, payments, and approvals in accordance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting colleagues to improve AP processes and support broader financial operations.
  • Report on AP status, issues, and process improvements to leadership as needed throughout the interim assignment.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6+ years of hands-on accounts payable experience, including high-volume invoice processing.
  • Proficiency with Dynamics 365 (D365) for accounts payable and related financial processes.
  • Demonstrated experience processing ACH payments and international wire transfers.
  • Strong experience preparing and posting journal entries related to accounts payable and general ledger activity.
  • Background in the nonprofit industry with an understanding of nonprofit-specific taxes, exemptions, and compliance considerations.
  • Familiarity with online banking platforms such as Cash Pro, Bank of America, and Core Pay.
  • Experience supporting month-end close activities, including AP reconciliations to the general ledger.
  • Ability to provide guidance and informal leadership to junior team members in an AP environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization in a fast-paced, high-volume AP setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a supervisory or senior-level AP role, acting as a lead above more junior specialists.
  • Comfort working in an interim or temporary capacity, quickly learning processes and systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying responsive and collaborative.
  • No specific degree requirement, allowing candidates with strong practical experience to qualify.
  • Willingness to participate in a streamlined interview process, typically involving one round with key stakeholders.
