Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Benefit Eligible Yes Screening Date 2026-07-01 Job Description Summary The Education Abroad Advisor supports education abroad (study abroad and away, global academic service learning and international internships) by advising students, faculty and staff on various opportunities and options; working with students and faculty to assure compliance with university policies; identifying appropriate opportunities; preparing students for an immersion experience; developing and offering opportunities for returning students for reflection and application of experience; advocating on campus for global immersion experience; and supporting the mission of Global Initiatives.

Job Description

Essential Duties Inform and advise students on a group and individual basis about education abroad opportunities through all stages of the process, including financial aid and budgeting, tailoring study abroad information to student academic interests, goals and needs. Assist with the management of education abroad programs and applications within study abroad software. Assist in implementing the marketing and outreach strategy for the Education Abroad Office. This includes coordinating social media posts, information sessions and attending new student orientation sessions. Manage outbound approved non-Miami transfer credit and exchange programs, maintaining relationships with program providers. Serve as a liaison to other student services units on campus including the Student Success Center and academic advising offices. Align study abroad options with the Miami University curriculum by collaborating with academic departments to identify course equivalencies. Develop programming and events for returned study abroad students in coordination with student services offices on campus. Minimum Qualifications: Required:Bachelor’s degree by start date. Consideration may be given to candidates with a master’s degree; foreign language proficiency, full-time experience with education abroad advising at the undergraduate level; familiarity with Terra Dotta; experience developing and implementing marketing plans and outreach; experience leveraging social media and targeting specific groups to successfully increase the number of interactions with posts, followers, etc.; ability to manage complex and multiple tasks with minimal supervision; demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations of learners and associates; evidence of experience supporting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive curricular and co-curricular learning experience for students in higher education; excellent time management, organization, and communication skills. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Prior student-facing work experience in an educational setting. Prior experience studying abroad, interning abroad, teaching abroad or supporting diverse populations locally. Result-oriented with proven ability to make informed decisions. Ability to manage complex and multiple tasks with minimal supervision. Remote work at 20% per week is an option after a successful 6 month on-boarding period.
