College Student Interns assist professional and technical employees in the performance of their duties under close supervision. The College Student Internship is designed to provide on-the-job training and experience while participants obtain their degree. We will help you to gain experience in building employment skills and establishing a professional network while continuing your education. Student Interns can be used throughout the calendar year depending on the needs of the department. Part-time extra-help is a provisional classification where permanent status may not be obtained. This position is subject to overtime, standby, shift, and callback assignments and will perform related duties as assigned. This position is non-benefited except for participation in a 401a program. Typical Tasks The College Student Intern's specific tasks vary depending on the Agency/Department to which they are assigned. Below are examples of the typical tasks you may be assigned, but is not to be considered all-inclusive: For positions with a clerical emphasis ? Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers; ? Answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages; ? Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, take orders, and address complaints; ? Maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems, either manually or using a computer; ? Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities; ? Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests; ? Open, sort, and route incoming mail, answer correspondence, and prepare outgoing mail; ? Compute, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports; ?
