Backend Developer - Golang
Role: Backend Developer Location: USA (REMOTE) Duration: Contractual Experience Req: 5+ Years Working Time Zone : PST (09:00 AM – 05:00 PM PST) Key Responsibilities · Design, build, and maintain Go based backend services, including API layers and internal processing components · Develop new features and enhance existing APIs to support scientifi c and computational workfl ows · Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot applications in Kubernetes (EKS) environments · Implement and maintain logging, monitoring, and observability solutions to ensure system health and performance · Define and track key metrics, set up alerts, and build dashboards for proactive issue detection · Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration with cloud native systems · Participate in system design discussions, focusing on scalability, reliability, performance, and observability · Monitor application health and performance, and proactively resolve production issues · Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and improve deployment workfl ows · Write clean, maintainable, and well tested code following best practices · Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers when needed Required Skills · Go Programming: Strong hands-on experience building production grade backend services in Go · Kubernetes / EKS: Experience deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes, preferably on AWS EKS · API Development: Solid experience designing and building RESTful (or similar) APIs · Observability: Experience with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK stack, OpenTelemetry) · Cloud (AWS): Working knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EKS, EC2, S3, IAM, VPC) · Linux Systems: Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals, system behavior, and troubleshooting · Version Control: Profi ciency with Git and modern development workfl ows · Debugging & Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose issues across application and infrastructure layers Desired Qualifications · Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. · 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering with a strong focus on Go (Golang) development. · Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable RESTful APIs and backend services in production environments. · Strong experience working with microservices and distributed systems architectures. · Demonstrated expertise in building high-performance, reliable, and maintainable backend applications. · Solid understanding of API design principles, service integration patterns, authentication, authorization, and API security best practices. · Experience optimizing application performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud-based environments. · Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. · Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills · Experience with distributed tracing and observability frameworks · Experience with web development (frontend frameworks or full-stack exposure) · Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD) · Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) · Knowledge of Docker and containerization best practices · Understanding of cloud security and best practices · Exposure to high performance computing or scientific platforms
