About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accountant with expertise in property management accounting. The ideal candidate is a U.S. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) with at least 3+ years of senior-level accounting experience in the real estate/property management industry, including direct U.S. accounting experience. This role is client-facing, requiring excellent communication skills to collaborate with property owners, managers, and stakeholders while ensuring accurate financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily accounting operations for property management portfolios.
- Prepare and review financial statements, monthly reports, and variance analyses.
- Handle bank, tenant ledger, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Ensure full compliance with U.S. GAAP and property management accounting standards.
- Communicate directly with clients, providing financial updates and addressing inquiries.
- Collaborate with property managers, owners, and external auditors.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
Qualifications
- U.S. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of U.S. accounting experience (must-have).
- At least 3 years of senior-level accounting experience in property management.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and property management systems (e.g., AppFolio, Yardi, Buildium).
- Proven client communication and relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing multi-property portfolios or working with HOAs/real estate/property management firms.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
- CPA or additional certifications are a strong advantage.
