Role Description This is a full-time remote Tax Manager role, with the option for hybrid work depending on location and business needs. The Tax Manager will oversee and review complex individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely filing. Daily responsibilities include managing tax planning engagements, identifying tax-saving opportunities, and providing proactive advisory support to small business clients and their owners. The person in this role will coordinate and review work prepared by junior staff, provide coaching and feedback, and help establish efficient workflows. The Tax Manager will also communicate regularly with clients, respond to tax authority notices, assist with research on complex tax issues, and contribute to process improvements and firm growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong technical tax expertise in individual, corporate, and partnership taxation, including tax planning and compliance for small businesses.
• Proficiency in public accounting workflows, including review of workpapers, financial statements, and trial balances to support tax return preparation.
• Experience managing client relationships, explaining complex tax concepts in accessible terms, and providing year-round advisory support.
• Comfort working in a technology-enabled environment, including tax preparation software, cloud-based accounting platforms, and secure document management tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members, manage multiple deadlines, and prioritize work in a distributed or remote setting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced tax or accounting education is a plus.
• Prior experience as a Tax Manager or in a senior tax role in a public accounting firm or similar environment is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with IRS and state tax regulations, research tools, and best practices for responding to tax notices and inquiries.
