The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Specialist, Health Promotions. Working as a member of the Heath Promotions department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy. The Specialist, Health Promotions will implement and evaluate lung health programs throughout Delaware; implement the Advancing Health Lifestyle mini-grant program from the Delaware Division of Public Health. This is a grant-funded position. Location: Home-based, Delaware

  • The Lung Association does not currently have an office in Delaware. This position is home-based and job responsibilities will take place in Delaware.

Responsibilities:

  • Screen, score, and identify mini-grantees for Advancing Healthy Lifestyles program
  • Provide technical assistance and management to all identified mini-grantees
  • Conduct two technical trainings for all awarded mini-grantees
  • Promote the Lung Health Navigator program in DE
  • Work with evaluator to develop mapping, infographics, and other visual aids to convey measured program outcomes.
  • Track program budgets, expenses, create accurate invoices and back-up documentation to meet financial requirements of funders and internal Finance team
  • Explore opportunities to connect and enhance collaborations throughout the Lung Association to address asthma related health disparities.
  • Participate in asthma related workgroups, as well as other essential meetings.
  • Represent the Association as a member of community, civic, and/or health coalitions and organizations related to the Association’s mission.
  • Build, maintain, and cultivate relationships with funders and community partners to encourage program delivery, sustainability, and growth across service territory, including American Lung Association signature programs.
  • Select and participate in local, state, and national seminars and courses designed to increase skills and knowledge related to job requirements.
  • Serve on American Lung Association’s regional and national workgroups and committees as requested.
  • Participate in and support area events and other activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public health or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience developing and implementing community awareness, education, and programs specifically related to areas of public health.
  • Prior experience in public health, community relations, public policy, and/or advocacy.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with the ability to travel within assigned area 35% of the time for meetings and conferences, as well as the flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required.
  • Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet applications.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Compensation: Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The target hiring range for this position is between $50,000 and $51,000 per annum. Benefits: The Lung Association offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Paid Leave - 10 vacation days in the first year (15 days thereafter), 2 personal days and 15 sick days per year, as well as 12 company-paid holidays per year. We also offer Paid Parental Leave for eligible employees.
  • Insurance - Employees (and their eligible dependents) can enroll in our medical, dental, and vision plans, as well as voluntary plans for critical illness, accident, hospital indemnity, short-term disability and supplemental life/AD&D insurance.
