Length of Work Year 10 Months Employment Type Part Time Job Summary Job Summary Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Special Education, the Special Education Teacher effectively educates students in conformity with the school philosophy and policies and rules of the governing bodies. Teach/instruct students (online) to ensure successful progress towards IEP goals - Act as the primary teacher of record for a special day class setting - Provide direct services (online) as needed to students as indicated in their IEPs - Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) using the Special Education Information System (SEIS) program - Create assessment reports when required - Write ITP's - Collaborate with other service providers - Prepare materials for IEP meetings - Consult/collaborate with parents, staff members and service providers to ensure appropriate delivery of special education services - Collaborate with general education staff to support students' access to their least restrictive environment and the general education curriculum - Assist with implementation and understanding of accommodations and modifications - Maintain special education records to meet compliance guidelines - Progress monitor IEP goals on a weekly basis - Follow up with Providers to confirm that IEP attendance, reports, and services are being completed - Schedule and set up IEP's and follow up on attendees - Plan and execute instructional lesson plans - Adapt and enrich the curriculum using multiple strategies and online tools in imaginative ways to actively engage students in their learning for enrichment or specialized academic instructional purposes - Align material to standards and or create course material aligned to applicable standards - Motivate students to achieve their full attendance, academic, and behavioral goals, as well as other goals identified - Maintain a positive school environment through effective conflict resolution, collaboration, positive reinforcement, and educational leadership modeling - Maintain a safe classroom environment - Issue discipline in an orderly fashion conducive to good learning - Keep accurate records on each student such as grade books and progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior/discipline records - Establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders - Maintain effective communication on an ongoing basis with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders - Prepare and administer all standardized tests as directed - Work with the teaching staff to improve nationally normed, standardized and proficiency testing results - Recognize opportunities for teachable moments with students - Gather, maintain, and submit student information and forms in a professional and timely manner - Develops classroom experiences that teach students not only facts but how to apply what they learn to solve real world problems - Possess the knowledge to learn data and delivery systems necessary for the content, resources, and systems to create, manage, and assess engaging and relevant student learning experiences and support students in their learning experiences both inside and outside the school. - Maintain confidentiality concerning all student information and any professional matters - Use computers and other technology provided to assist and support students in their learning - Participate in ongoing professional development activities - Work in a professional and cooperative manner with others to achieve duties and responsibilities - Attend and/or participate in school activities as directed by the Administration such as faculty meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, commencement exercises, field trips, professional learning communities - California Multiple Subject credential preferred - High quality written and verbal communication skills - High digital proficiency in Microsoft applications, Google Workspace, and Work OS platforms -
