Senior Corporate Counsel

Within the Office of the General Counsel will be responsible to provide legal and commercial counsel for a line of business and/or staff group. This position will serve as primary legal support for a line of business and/or staff group and its respective senior management teams. May provide guidance and support within the following legal areas: general corporate matters, including corporate organization, compliance, drafting transactional documents, license agreements, employment law, immigration law, data privacy, risk management asset-backed financing, and contract management Conducts research, interprets new as well as existing laws and regulations directly impacting the organization’s business to ensure ongoing statutory and regulatory compliance Identifies and assesses risk and determines and effectuates appropriate course of action for a broad spectrum of risks for specific business areas and others with department-wide/ Line of Business (LOB) consequences Demonstrates subject matter level proficiency in substantive practice areas Acts as an advisor to other legal staff within the department on specific practice areas Acts autonomously as a LOB Subject Matter Expert (SME) and the main point of contact for legal concerns for business partners and department(s) Provides advice and guidance on daily commercial legal matters relevant to the business and/or staff group, as well as on an enterprise-wide level Maintains relationships with outside counsel. Provides recommendations on partnership, contract, etc. Possesses detailed working knowledge of LOB/Business Partner/Pillar operations, good working knowledge of Company operations Perform all other duties as assigned Job Specifications Typically has the following skills or abilities: Juris Doctorate degree and a current State Bar License to practice law 7+ years of experience in-house or law firm that specializes in health care and/or (other specialized area - procurement, M&A, regulatory, or privacy) Proven success in practice areas; managed teams or team project work; proven ability to support executive leadership and above Excellent organization skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multitask Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills. Proactively collaborates with the LOB and the Office of General Counsel to mitigate risk Ability to drive results through informal authority and serve as a consultant to business partners Demonstrates ability to be a decision-maker showing balanced consideration of business issues Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of the job duties For roles that are remote (i.e., Work From Home (WFM)) or hybrid (i.e., partial onsite at a VSP location and WFM), must demonstrate a high level of engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings to support effective communication and team alignment #LI-VISIONCARE Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
