Senior Accountant

Position Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the organization through accurate accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements. This position will lead month-end and year-end close activities, prepare financial statements, support audits, and provide meaningful financial insights that help leadership make informed business decisions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, comfortable working independently in a remote environment, and passionate about improving accounting processes through technology and automation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. Prepare and post journal entries. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Lead month-end and year-end close processes. Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records. Maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules as needed. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records. Accounting Operations Manage or support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning. Assist with internal and external audits. Coordinate tax reporting and work with external tax advisors. Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial regulations. Analysis & Process Improvement Analyze financial results and provide meaningful recommendations to leadership. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and efficiencies. Leverage automation and AI-powered tools where appropriate to improve workflows. Assist with ERP implementations, upgrades, or financial system improvements. Collaboration Partner with leadership, operations, tax, and external advisors on strategic initiatives. Prepare reports and financial information to support executive decision-making. Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations. Experience leading month-end and year-end close. Proficiency with accounting software such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, Xero, or similar ERP systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines. Preferred CPA designation (active or in progress). Experience in a multi-entity environment. Experience supporting audits and tax compliance. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Experience implementing accounting automation or financial technology solutions. Professional services, consulting, legal, financial services, or multi-company experience.
