Summary

The Research Behavioral Treatment Specialist works with research participants to conduct aspects of a behavioral treatment protocol which is supervised by the research investigator. The research participants may be patients, caregivers or community participants. This specialist is expected to follow the research protocol and implement the intervention. The intervention* would be determined by the research protocol and be study specific. The individual performing this role will be trained for the specific treatment being delivered per the protocol; however they should have a basic understanding of the topic at hand and good judgment on its implementation. Please note that this would not involve an FDA regulated study; this position would apply to non-therapeutic studies that are not FDA regulated.*Examples of an intervention could be mindfulness to quit smoking or drinking alcohol, or to manage the stress of being a caregiver for a critically ill patient. The mindfulness intervention could consist of guiding mindfulness practices. In addition, stress management interventions provided by this specialist could include cognitive behavioral therapy provided to cancer patients undergoing treatment. Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of an innovative team and make an impact on the lives of those affected by cancer? As a member of the Moffitt Non-Therapeutic Research Office (NTRO) you may interact directly with community members and patients to enroll, educate, and guide participants through the experience of taking part in research. You may support non-therapeutic research in other ways including data entry, project and protocol management and quality assurance. Regardless, you will be a member of a collaborative team that ensures non-therapeutic research activities are moving forward safely, smoothly, and according to plan. Our NTRO Research team comes from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including public health, psychology, biological sciences and more. There are opportunities for those who have worked in other areas of public health as well as those who are looking for a new and exciting opportunity. Team members of NTRO work closely with community members, patients, patient families, study sponsors, and clinical teams including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other health care providers. These positions typically offer a Monday through Friday schedule, though some require occasional weekends. Moffitt offers training and orientation.
