[Remote] Sr Tax Accountant
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Natera is a global leader in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) testing and advanced molecular diagnostics. They are seeking a proactive Senior Tax Accountant to play a pivotal role in the company’s tax function, partnering with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns, gross receipts tax returns, personal property tax renditions, and handle other indirect tax reporting
- Partner with our external advisors to successfully manage federal and state income tax compliance
- Own and manage the corporate tax calendar to guarantee timely filing and payment of all tax obligations
- Support vital tax accounting activities, including complex account reconciliations and tight month-end close processes
- Research evolving tax laws and regulations to proactively assess their impact on our business operations
- Review transactions and business activities to ensure proper tax treatment and identify potential tax exposures before they become issues
- Act as the primary point of contact for tax notices, audits, and information requests from tax authorities
- Collaborate seamlessly across departments (Accounting, Procurement, Payroll, IT) and with external consultants on all tax-related matters
- Identify, champion, and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to streamline the tax function
- Support leadership with special strategic projects as the company scales
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
- 3+ years of progressive tax or accounting experience, with hands-on exposure to both income tax and indirect tax compliance
- General Ledger accounting experience is required
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel and Word)
- Strong experience with major ERP systems
- Familiarity with GSuite (Gmail, Sheets, Google Docs)
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen focus on the details
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders
- Adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing competing deadlines, particularly during tight month-end close processes
- A team-oriented mindset with a genuine willingness to learn new skills and adapt in a growing environment
- CPA or similar active certification is highly preferred
- Oracle experience is highly preferred; NetSuite, SAP, or similar is acceptable
- Experience with tax automation software is a strong plus
