[Remote] Sr Network Services Engineer (Remote within Commuting Distance)

California ISO is responsible for managing the flow of electricity across California's power grid, ensuring reliable service for millions. They are seeking a Sr Network Services Engineer to maintain and enhance their enterprise-wide local area networks and cyber security infrastructure, while providing technical solutions for data and voice communications.

Responsibilities

• Leads in the planning, design, testing, implementation and participates in the support of technical solutions for data and voice communications infrastructure in support of Network Services; Provides 24x7 on call technical support as required
• Engages with company-wide business units to provide network design solutions for business requirements, and works to ensure the highest level of associated systems operations, reliability and security
• Provides technical guidance and expertise to team members and associated staff
• Participates in department planning, research and development to ensure that company is using up-to-date technologies to comply with corporate standards, goals and objectives
• Leads vendor management activities to ensure continued reliability, availability, and security of company's telecommunications and data network infrastructure

Skills

• A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent education, training or experience in Engineering, Computer Engineering or closely related field
• Equivalent years of education and training, plus five (5) or more years related experience
• Information technology, network and security administration
• Experience with IT network and security engineering
• Must have significant experience designing and supporting local area and wide area networks, advanced understanding and experience with routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), site-to-site VPNs, ACLs, Layer 2 technologies, diagramming, documenting, and project planning
• Experience debugging complex system issues in production environments, determining root causes, and implementing solutions to recover functionality of systems in a timely manner
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment as facilitator and team member
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication and documentation skills required, with a demonstrated attention to detail
• Ability to use deductive reasoning and analytical thinking with sound judgment and decision-making skills
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are also essential
• Must be self-starting and willing and able to work independently in a dynamic corporate organization under pressure of tight deadlines and aggressive expectations
• Self-motivated, problem solving skills and the ability to influence others without direct authority
• Good attitude, communication and interpersonal skills
• Thorough knowledge of IT systems development and data networking systems
• Master Degree preferred
• Industry certifications (Cisco Certified Network Professional, Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert, Certified Information Systems Security Professional etc.) preferred
• Experience with content delivery technologies (F5)
• Working knowledge of ISO Markets required
