[Remote] Senior Project Specialist - Institute for Research Experience and Education
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. UL Standards & Engagement is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing safety science research. The Senior Project Specialist will plan and execute complex, multi-stakeholder projects that support the Research Experiences & Education’s work with classrooms and communities across the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Manages project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with research goals and deadlines
- Collaborates with stakeholders to gather project requirements and establish clear communication channels
- Coordinates and leads cross-functional project teams, assign tasks and responsibilities, and monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Fosters effective teamwork and collaboration among team members
- Conducts regular project status meetings, providing updates to stakeholders and addressing any issues or concerns
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration and provide regular project status reports and updates to stakeholders, including progress, milestones, and key decisions
- Manages stakeholder expectations and addresses concerns or feedback
- Facilitates effective communication among project team members, ensuring alignment and clarity
- Conducts project reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify areas for improvement
- Documents project outcomes, successes, and challenges for future reference
- Contributes to the development, editing, and publication of research documents, presentations, and other technical materials and facilitate translation to support communications and education
- Supports development of technical organization partnerships and outreach activities related to amplification of research as part of those partnerships
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, related field or has equivalent experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in project management, preferably in research or technical setting
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and cross‑functional teams
- Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate team members towards project goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Relevant technical knowledge
- Highly organized and skilled in managing multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills to analyze complex situations
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts
- Solid understanding of budgeting principles, cost estimation, and financial management
- Adaptable and flexible, capable of adjusting plans, reallocating resources, and managing uncertainties while maintaining project objectives
