[Remote] Senior Mechanical Engineer - Building Systems

Fuss & O’Neill is a company dedicated to creating and innovating for communities, and they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their building systems team. This role involves leading the planning, design, and delivery of complex mechanical systems while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and managing projects from concept through construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and serve as project manager for building systems projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Develop and review construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, local building codes)
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budgets for assigned projects
- Serve as the primary point of contact for select projects, building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Coordinate and manage multi-disciplinary design teams, including internal civil, structural, and electrical staff
- Oversee construction administration activities, including submittal review, responses to RFIs, and site visits
- Lead and participate in internal and external project meetings, maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors
- Support proposal development, level-of-effort estimating, and project planning
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the mechanical team
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, and applicable building codes and ASHRAE standards
- Experience managing projects through design and construction phases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel to job sites in CT, MA, and RI
- Familiarity with BIM coordination tools preferred
