[Remote] Senior Manager of Data Engineering
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Senior Manager of Data Engineering will lead a team to develop data solutions that empower adult learners and educational institutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, independence, collaboration, and accountability
- Create and execute a Data Engineering roadmap that helps ReUp to achieve its goals
- Partner with technology, analytics, finance, B2B, and B2C teams to define data requirements, and design and develop solutions that drive value for ReUp’s clients and learners
- Oversee the design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of data pipelines and warehouses that ingest, transform, store, and provide access to student and institutional data to power business intelligence products, ML models, cloud-based web applications, and marketing and coaching services
- Champion automation, observability, and performance to ensure ReUp’s pipeline efficiently and reliably delivers quality data to end users
- Proactively identify, triage, and resolve data quality and availability issues through root-cause analysis, remediation, monitoring, and cross-functional collaboration
- Define and monitor SLAs for data quality, workflow status and runtime, incident response and resolution time, and team velocity
- Define and implement data engineering standards and best practices
- Support data security, compliance, and governance initiatives
Skills
- 8+ years of data engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience managing a high-performing data engineering team
- Experience developing and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and warehouses in a production environment
- Strong fluency in SQL and Python
- Experience working with cloud data platforms such as AWS, and data warehouses such as Redshift or Snowflake
- Experience working with orchestration tools such as Airflow, and data integration tools such as Stitch or CData
- Experience working with version control tools such as GitHub
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem solving skills
- Experience syncing data to and from Salesforce, Iterable, and/or cloud-based web applications
- Experience developing a curated data layer for data visualization tools such as Tableau
- Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML models in production
- Experience with Agile engineering practices
- Experience working in higher education, education technology, and/or a startup
