[Remote] Senior Applied AI Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Discovered MENA is partnering with a leading digital asset and financial technology platform that is heavily investing in AI. They are seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy production-ready AI applications that solve real business problems and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-ready AI applications powered by large language models and agentic workflows
• Build intelligent systems using techniques such as RAG, tool calling, task orchestration, and multi-agent architectures
• Evaluate, integrate, and optimise frontier and open-source models, balancing performance, latency, and cost considerations
• Develop robust evaluation frameworks to benchmark AI systems, detect regressions, and maintain production quality standards
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams to identify high-value AI opportunities and deliver measurable outcomes
• Build scalable backend services and APIs that enable the integration of AI capabilities into customer and internal products
• Champion modern AI engineering practices and help teams improve their productivity through AI-assisted development workflows
• Mentor engineers and contribute to establishing best practices for the development and operation of AI systems

Skills

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years building and deploying LLM-powered applications in production environments
• Demonstrated track record of shipping AI products that deliver measurable business impact, rather than purely experimental or research initiatives
• Strong experience with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-based architectures
• Hands-on experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, or similar technologies
• Excellent Python engineering skills with the ability to build scalable, maintainable backend systems
• Experience building end-to-end AI applications, from problem definition through deployment and ongoing optimisation
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents that accelerate software delivery (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to operate independently within fast-paced environments
• Experience applying AI within regulated, security-sensitive, or financial environments
• Exposure to model fine-tuning techniques, including parameter-efficient adaptation approaches
• Contributions to open-source projects, technical communities, or published thought leadership related to AI engineering
• Previous experience within AI-native organisations or advanced engineering teams focused on large-scale AI adoption
