[Remote] Senior Accountant

They are seeking a Senior Accountant with a strong background in auditing and IRS regulations to support tax compliance, conduct audits, and provide expert guidance to clients and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Support internal teams with preparing tax forms and documents for clients
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., tax, legal, finance) to support audit objectives and provide specialized IRS-related insights
- Apply strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations to support tax compliance, filings, and audit readiness
- Support research and analysis of tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Specialize in IRS regulations, policies, and procedures, providing expert guidance on compliance
- Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to management or clients, including recommendations for improvement
- Review financial statements, records, and systems for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established policies and legal requirements
- Identify potential areas of risk and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Assist in responding to IRS inquiries, notices, and examinations, representing the company or clients as needed
- Stay current with updates on changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and auditing methodologies and apply changes appropriately in work processes for best practices
Skills
- Prior experience as an IRS auditor
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive auditing experience, with a significant portion specifically involving IRS audits, tax examinations, or direct work with IRS regulations
- Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax regulations and basic IRS procedures
- In-depth knowledge of IRS codes, regulations, and examination processes
- Proven ability to interpret and apply complex tax laws and accounting principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity and professional ethics
- EA or CPA preferred
