[Remote] Product Engineer ($180k–$290k + equity) Browser Automation for AI Agents
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CoffeeSpace is a YC-backed AI infrastructure startup building developer tools for AI agents to interact with the web. The Product Engineer will own the browser interaction product, working closely with the CEO and team to enhance the product's capabilities for AI agents.
Responsibilities
- Own the browser interaction product end-to-end, including prompt-based interactions, persistent profiles, session chaining, and scrape-then-interact workflows
- Build developer-facing APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, Playwright, Puppeteer, browser-use, Stagehand, Chromium, and related tools
- Improve reliability across arbitrary web pages, login flows, forms, changing DOMs, stateful sessions, and real-world browser edge cases
- Talk directly with developers through GitHub, Discord, customer conversations, and product feedback loops
- Dogfood the API relentlessly and improve latency, response shapes, error messages, docs, and overall developer experience
- Make product decisions without a PM or designer, including what to build, what to skip, what to kill, and what to ship quickly
Skills
- 3–12 years of experience as a product engineer, founding engineer, or early engineer at an early-stage startup
- Experience shipping browser automation, agent tooling, web interaction APIs, or developer-facing infrastructure to external developers
- Hands-on production experience with Playwright, Puppeteer, browser-use, Stagehand, Chromium internals, or similar browser automation tooling
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js fluency
- Experience owning product direction without needing a PM or designer
- Strong developer experience instincts: you care about API design, docs, errors, latency, reliability, and how builders actually use your product
- Comfort with ambiguity, fast iteration, and independent decision-making
- Location in the Americas, UTC-3 to UTC-10
- Experience building for AI agents, web automation, scraping, structured data extraction, or browser-based workflows
- Early-stage startup experience, especially as a founding engineer or early product engineer
- Experience building external developer tools, APIs, SDKs, or infrastructure products
- Experience with observability tooling such as Datadog, Sentry, OpenTelemetry, or similar systems
- A public builder profile: open-source work, side projects, technical writing, developer tools, or products used by real users
- Background from DevTools, AI infrastructure, browser automation, scraping, API-first, or agent tooling companies
