[Remote] Principal Product Designer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Figure is a company transforming capital markets through blockchain technology, providing innovative financial products. As a Principal Product Designer, you will lead product design initiatives, collaborating with various teams to create user-centered designs that are both aesthetically pleasing and technically feasible.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design across multiple high-impact initiatives, from zero-to-one concepts through polished, production-ready experiences
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering to shape product strategy, user flows, service architecture, data requirements, and technical constraints early in the process
• Think deeply about edge cases, states, error flows, and data integrity, producing designs that anticipate real-world usage and give developers exactly what they need
• Translate complex business and user needs into simple, cohesive experiences that drive measurable outcomes
• Evolve and scale Figure’s design system, ensuring consistency and innovation across products
• Raise the quality bar for visual craft, interaction patterns, systems thinking, and UX rigor
• Mentor and provide design critique to senior and mid-level designers, fostering a culture of craft, collaboration, and continuous learning
• Collaborate cross-functionally to influence product decisions and align teams around a shared vision
• Represent design at the executive level, communicating design rationale and customer insights clearly to stakeholders

Skills

• 8+ years of experience in product design (UI/UX or product/interaction design), with a strong track record leading complex, multi-disciplinary work
• Proven experience driving complex design projects from strategy through execution, ideally in a fast-paced or high-growth environment
• Evidence of designing products that shipped, scaled, and impacted the business
• Strong systems thinking around design components, technical constraints, and how to structure flows for engineering efficiency
• Expert-level proficiency in modern design tools (Figma, Adobe Suite, etc.) and design systems thinking
• A portfolio that shows high craft and strong product thinking, clear problem framing, consideration of technical tradeoffs, detailed states, data logic, and thoughtful execution
• Strong understanding of usability, accessibility, and design best practices for responsive web and mobile experiences
• Exceptional storytelling, communication, and facilitation skills—able to align diverse perspectives and influence at all levels
• Experience mentoring other designers and helping teams scale design impact
• A mindset that balances design intuition with data-driven decision making
• Experience in fintech, crypto, capital markets, AI, or other data-dense or high-regulation domains
• Knowledge of front-end technologies or close collaboration with development teams
• Experience defining or leading design vision, principles, or systems at an organizational level
